What are BCON Cool Roof Tiles?
BCON Roof Cool tiles are the perfect addition to any structure if you want to save on energy costs. Each cooling tile has properties that strongly reflect sunlight instead of converting it into heat. In addition, instead of absorbing that heat and transferring it down from the roof deck into the structure, Cool Roof tiles release the heat faster for greater energy efficiency. This process is similar to wearing lighter colours in the warm summer months and darker colours in cooler seasons.
While lighter colours are typically known to remain cooler in the sun, darker colours still have the opportunity to be reflective and stay cool. Each Cool Roof tile, regardless of colour, has two basic characteristics that determine its ‘coolness’ on a roof. The solar reflectance (SR) and the thermal emittance (TE) are both rated on a scale from 0 to 1, the closer the number is to 1 – the higher its reflectivity is towards the sun.
Weathering Coarse?
Weathering course in terrace is done with a mixture of brick bats, lime powder kadukkai & Jaggery with an exact slope the Red clay tile are laid, and the joints are filled with cement mortar. During the rainy season rainwater is safely discharged through pipes without stagnation. It reflects some amount of heat in summer days.
During rainy season the water pipe will block by the leaves and some dust, which leads to water stagnation in terrace. Stagnant water enters through small pores of tiles and joints, water absorb by the brick bats. Even the pin size holes in the red tile absorbs water. The unburnt tile also leads to water stagnation, also through cement mortar gaps. Water Tank overflow and water supply pipes line leads to bricks bat water absorption.
Reasons for failer in weathering course
- The inequality brickbats, lime powder, red clay tile and kadukka and incorrect slope.
- Unburnt brickbats, bricks from building demolition debris.
- Unqualified hydraulically pressed clay tile.
- No proper packing Joints between clay tiles.
- Tank overflow (No proper maintenance)
Pipeline leakage
- Failure to clean the terrace frequently
- Stagnant Rain water in the terrace.
- Not replacing the damaged red clay line.
BCON ROOF COOL TILE
BCON Roof Cool Tile Reduces Heat because
- Colour
- Material type
Usually, White colour reflects heat and Black absorbs heat. A dark roof can go up to 80 degrees Celsius on a hot sunny day. Colour can make such a difference. Along with the colour, the type of material also matters a lot. That’s why white-coated red clay tile can’t reflect as much heat as white ceramic tiles. Smoother the surface is, the reflection is higher.
Cool tiles have a glazed coating which contains Zirconium oxide, Alumina silicate or zirconium silicate. Zirconium oxide is used to get rich whiteness. These materials contribute best reflection
